One of the most fundamental issues of civilization, which has existed since time immemorial, is the battle between liberty and tyranny.
Not that long ago in the grand sweep of history, it was generally accepted that most people were destined to live under the unquestioned authority of a pharaoh, king, czar, emperor, etc.
However,thatallchangedinthelateeighteenthcentury,whentheAmericancolonistsdeclared,andeventuallywon,theirindependencefromtheBritishCrown.
Eversincethatpivotalevent,theinspiringidealoflibertyhascaptivatedpeoplethroughouttheworld.
Overtheyears,millionsofpeoplehaveemigratedtotheUnitedStates,hopingtoachievetheAmericanDreamintheLandofOpportunity.Manymorechosetoremainintheirhomelandsothattheycouldfightforfreedomintheirplaceofbirth.
Ofcourse,freedomdoesnotcomeeasy.Ifthatwerethecase,freedomwouldbethedefaultconditionofhumangovernance.
