Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), a member of the so-called “Squad,” is likely to lose by a landslide in the June 25 New York Democratic primary.
IntheEmersonCollegePolling/PIX11/TheHillsurvey,WestchesterCountyExecutiveGeorgeLatimersecured48%ofDemocraticprimaryvoters’support,whileBowman,atwo-termincumbent,garneredjust31%.Thepollalsonotedthat21%ofrespondentsinthe16thCongressionalDistrict,coveringmuchofWestchesterCountyandpartsofthenorthBronx,remainedundecided.
Lastyear, BowmanwascaughtonvideosettingoffafirealarmintheCannonHouseOfficeBuildinginanattempttodelayaHousevoteonthestopgapresolutiontoavertashutdown.Despitehisclaimthatitwasanaccident,Bowmanpleadedguiltytomisdemeanorchargesrelatedtotheincident.Technically,heviolatedfederallawbyobstructinganofficialproceeding,buthereceivedonlyaslaponthewrist.TheHouseEthicsCommitteeabsurdlychosenottoinvestigatetheincident.
